چکیده

The photometric sampling method [4] extracts shape and reflectance properties of surfaces (Lambertian, specular, and hybrid) by using multiple illunrination directions and a single viewing direction. This paper describes a complete implementation and a performance evaluation of a three-dimensional version of the photometric sampler. The experimental conducted on Lambertian surfaces, specular surfaces, and hybrid surfaces show high accuracy in both estimated orientations as well as reflectance parameters.

Extracting Shape and Reflectance of Lambertian, Specular, and Hybrid Surfaces

All existing shape extraction techniques that are based on photometric measurements rely on assumed surface reflection properties. We propose a method for determining the shape of surfaces whose reflectance properties may vary from Lambertian to specular without prior knowledge of the relative strengths of the Lambertian and specular components of reflection. The object surface is illuminated u...

Photometric Stereo for Non-Lambertian Surfaces Using Color Information

One robust method to reconstruct shape is photometric stereo (PMS), which reconstructs surface orientation using the Lambertian reflection properties of the surface material. To increase the applicability to non-Lambertian surfaces, we extend this method using a twostage process without introducing additional light sources or assuming a known micro facet distribution. In the first step, the glo...

Shape from interreflections - Computer Vision, 1990. Proceedings, Third International Conference on

All shape-from-intensity methods assume that points in a scene are only illuminated by sources of light. Most scenes consist of concave surfaces and/orconcavities that result from multipleobjects in the scene. In such cases, points in the scene reflect light between themselves. In the presence of these interreflections, shape-from-intensity methods produce erroneous (pseudo) estimates of shape ...

Toward Global and Model based Multiview Stereo Methods for Shape and Reflectance Estimation

In this paper, we present a variational method that recovers both the shape and the reflectance of the Lambertian scene using multiple images. Although we consider only Lambertian surfaces in this paper, the proposed method, which is global and completely model based, is the first and unavoidable stage for reaching a shape and reflectance estimation method for non-Lambertian surfaces. Basically...

Shape from Fluorescence

Beyond day glow highlighters and psychedelic black light posters, it has been estimated that fluorescence is a property exhibited by 20% of objects. When a fluorescent material is illuminated with a short wavelength light, it re-emits light at a longer wavelength isotropically in a similar manner as a Lambertian surface reflects light. This hitherto neglected property opens the doors to using f...
